How my journey began

I spent most of my career working in oil and gas and I needed a change. I knew I wanted a career helping people, so I went back to school and studied applied psychology and counselling. I was working as a mental health counsellor and noticed that an individual’s mental health had many dimensions, and that each aspect of a person’s life are all interconnected. Nutrition, sleep, exercise, mental health, social relationships, among others, all contributed to one’s personal wellbeing. All of these facets would need to be addressed and work in harmony to make a difference for many people.

I have also had several health challenges myself and I wanted to make a change, to take charge and to start living to the best of my ability. I found that there was so much conflicting information out there, it was confusing, and I didn’t know where to begin. I then decided to educate myself so I could make some changes using up-to-date health information supported by evidence-based research.

I decided to continue my education in health sciences, then began reviewing recent clinical research studies to ensure I had the latest health data available. I compiled all the information I learned through my personal health journey and developed programs with effective interventions within the multiple dimensions of health.

I thought I could use the information that I have learned to help others with similar goals. I then started Bodhi Health Counselling. Here at Bodhi, we concentrate on health as a whole. We use a Biopsychosocial model taking biology, lifestyle, mental health, and social relationships into one synergistic approach to personal wellbeing.

Change comes from within — and I’m here to help you activate it.
